FC Community 7 v 2 Wirral Phoenix Development

FC Community 7-2 Wirral Phoenix

A 7-2 win at Admiral Park on Sunday in a match that started slowly before turning into one of the most complete performances of the season.

FC Community took time to find their feet. Wirral Phoenix opened the scoring through Freya Elliott on 13 minutes, and for the opening quarter the home side were searching for rhythm. Once they found it, the response was emphatic.

Elen Price levelled the scores on 15 minutes and put the home side ahead a minute later. Two goals inside sixty seconds, and the shape of the afternoon shifted. Kishaya Stewart added a third on the half hour. Wirral Phoenix replied through Jessica Ross on 31 minutes to make it 3-2, but Emma Jones restored the two-goal cushion before half time with a finish on 41 minutes.

The second half was a different contest altogether. Keira Summerhayes made it five on 52 minutes, Stewart claimed her second of the afternoon on 70 minutes and substitute Grace Morton rounded off the scoring on 75 minutes.

Five different goalscorers and a level of football that did the result justice. Sharp passing, intelligent movement and clinical finishing once the side settled into their stride. A reminder of what this group is capable of when it clicks.
