Three points away from home on a difficult afternoon on the Wirral.
Despite being on astro turf, driving wind and rain made it anything but straightforward. Both sides had to work for everything, and FC Community adapted to the conditions better when it mattered.
Nicola Murphy opened the scoring on 30 minutes to give the side a deserved lead going into the break. Mercy Darkoah added a second on 60 minutes to settle the contest and put daylight between the teams.
What stood out most was the defensive shift. Wirral Phoenix Development pushed throughout, and the back line stood up to all of it. Tackles, blocks, second balls. Everyone did a job and nobody let the side down.
Beyond the goalscorers, this was a team performance. Grit, organisation and a refusal to let the weather or the opposition knock the side off course. Three points on the road built on the unglamorous side of the game.
