St Michaels DHFC 2 v 1 FC Community

A narrow defeat away to the league leaders on a wet afternoon, but a performance that deserved more.

St Michaels took the lead early on through a low shot that slipped under the goalkeeper on a greasy surface. FCC responded well though, and it turned into an end-to-end game at times with the greens looking dangerous going forward. Kishaya Stewart latched onto a brilliant through ball and finished with ease to level things up before the break.

The second half followed a similar pattern. FCC created chances and carried a real threat, but the ball kept bouncing kindly for St Michaels in the key moments. With 15 minutes left they found a winner — the ball pinballed around the box before eventually finding the net. A scrappy goal to concede, especially when the overall display warranted at least a point.

Lots of positives to take from this one. The greens went toe to toe with the best team in the league and were right in the game until the end.

Off the pitch, great to see so many making the trip to support the team. Cheers to everyone who made it.

Next fixture: Away to Runcorn Saxons, League Cup.
